The Planning Commission must often balance competing interests when developing planning documents and making land use decisions. In your opinion, what are the most important factors for the Planning Commission to consider in its decision ma~ng? 5. Please share your views on how the Planning Commission can foster involvement of the whole community in long-range planning projects. All candidates for the Toxics Board positions were asked the following questions: 1. To be a member on the business side, you must be employed by or be an agent ora company required to report. For the right-to-know side, you must have a demonstrable record of advocat- ing for the public's right-to-know. Please tell us how you qualid~ for board membership. 2. What is your understanding of the purposes of the City's Toxics Right-to-Know Program? 3. What is your understanding of how the program functions? . 4. As a member of the Toxics Board, what improvements would you like to make? What problems would you like to solve? 5. Do you feel that you can work effectively with the other members of the board, some of whose viewpoints on certain issues may be diametrically opposed to yours? Why? At the conclusion o£ each interview, Ms. Bettman informed candidates that the council would make its appointments at the council meetings o£ October 25 and November 8, 2004.
