MINUTES <br /> <br /> Eugene City Council <br /> Interviews for Boards and Commissions <br /> McNutt Room--Eugene City Hall <br /> <br /> October 13, 2004 <br /> 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Bonny Bettman, George Poling, Nancy Nathanson, Scott Meisner, David <br /> Kelly, Betty Taylor, Gary Pap6, Jennifer Solomon. <br /> <br />Council President Bonny Bettman called the meeting of the Eugene City Council to order. <br /> <br />A. INTERVIEWS FOR BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br />The council interviewed candidates for positions on the Planning Commission, Budget Committee, and the <br />Toxics Board. The candidate for the Planning Commission was Justin Wright. The candidates for the <br />Budget Committee included Robert Cassidy, Kate O'Donnell, and Mike Clark. David Doll and Douglas <br />Brooke were interviewed for positions on the Toxics Board. <br /> <br />Ms. Bettman greeted each candidate in mm and informed them that the councilors who were unable to <br />attend the meeting would listen to tapes of the interviews. <br /> <br />All candidates for the Planning Commission positions were asked the following questions: <br /> <br /> 1. ~/hy did you apply for the Planning Commission and what do you hope to contribute? Do you see <br /> yourself as representing any particular point of view or group? <br /> <br /> 2. ~ffhat is your experience working with a group effectively and especially with regard to long <br /> processes? Have you had prior experience working with groups in a collective manner? <br /> <br /> 3. In your opinion, which issue should be given the highest priority by the Planning Commission <br /> over the next four years? ~/hy do you consider this the most important issue? <br /> <br /> 4. The Planning Commission must often balance competing interests when developing planning <br /> documents and making land use decisions. In your opinion, what are the most important factors <br /> for the Planning Commission to consider in its decision making? <br /> <br /> 5. Please share your views on how the Planning Commission can foster involvement of the whole <br /> community in long-range planning projects. <br /> <br />All candidates for the Budget Committee positions were asked the following questions: <br /> <br /> 1. In your opinion, which issues should be given highest priority by the Budget Committee over the <br /> next four years?
