On Oct. 5, celebrate Latino Heritage <br />Month! Antonio Huerta will perform charreria rope tricks and share some history. <br />Plus, get creative with Jessica Zapata of Eugene Arte Latino. The celebration <br />continues on Oct.12, with traditional Ecuadorian music and dance performed by <br />Sol de los Andes. <br /> <br />On Oct. 19, join Kelly Terwilliger for “Stories of Stones,” a show of tales about <br />magical pebbles, talking boulders, and more. Then, create a home for your own pet <br />rock. On Oct. 26, enjoy time together learning and playing board games with Chris <br />Wuebbles. <br /> <br />Also, back by popular demand: Dog Tale Time, every Saturday, 2 - 3:30 p.m. Dog <br />Tale Time is a free opportunity for children from kindergarten to sixth-grade to <br />build skills by reading to friendly, trained dogs in 15-minute, one-on-one sessions. Pre-registration begins one week in <br />advance of each event at 541-682-8316. <br /> <br />For more information, contact the Eugene Public Library at 541-682-8316 or www.eugene-or.gov/library. <br /> <br />Parent/Child Activities Strengthen Family <br />Recreation Services offers a variety of activities that are for both parent and child. These classes are an important way the <br />division supports strong family ties, builds community, and ensures accessible and thriving recreation and culture. <br />Research has demonstrated that families are strengthened when each member <br />has a role and responsibility. In Recreation, it’s about including everyone in <br />the task or the fun. <br /> <br />Ceramics classes offered at Amazon Community Center are one example. <br />Family Fun with Clay is open to the whole family. All family members can <br />make useful items like bowls or fun items like monsters. These self-made <br />objects become treasured remembrances of family togetherness. <br /> <br />Two other ceramics classes offered this fall, expressly for parent and child, <br />teach family members how to make Halloween decorations or holiday <br />ornaments. Master potters teach these classes, providing valuable direction <br />that helps build new creative skills for parent and child. <br /> <br />Other Recreation classes for parents and children include dancing, martial arts, Movie Nights at Amazon, Family Fun Nights <br />at Petersen Barn, Sheldon Center’s Super Sale, Shred and Swim, and Family Fit Friday.
