<br />Eugene Recognized at Oregon Connections Technology Conference <br />Eugene regional public network and Information Services Division staff, were recognized at the annual Oregon Connections <br />Telecommunications Technology Conference, held in Hood River, Oregon, from Oct. 22 - 24. In its 19 year, over 300 <br />th <br />public and private sector attendees enjoyed a full slate of telecommunications and broadband presentations. The theme <br />this year was Big Data and the Internet of Things and how technology innovations are impacting daily life in ways that both <br />challenge and benefit area communities. <br /> <br />The awards ceremony is initiated by open nomination from any entity, whether a participant in the conference or not. The <br />award for outstanding telecommunications project went to the Lane County Area Public Agency Network (PAN) in <br />recognition of its innovative strategies to provide better access, reliability and/or affordability to telecommunications <br />services for communities or promotes and accelerates adoption and utilization. The members of PAN are the Eugene <br />Water & Electric Board (EWEB), City of Eugene, Springfield Utility Board (SUB), City of Springfield, Lane County, Lane <br />Council of Governments, Lane Transit District, Eugene School District 4J, University of Oregon, Lane Educational Service <br />District, Lane Community College, State Department of Administrative Services and State Department of Transportation. <br /> <br />Telecommunications Program Manager Pam Berrian received the Edwin B. Parker Enduring Achievement Award. This <br />award is presented to individuals whose contributions in telecommunications have been rendered with the greatest <br />civility, who serve as a role model and mentor to many, and who have provided a lasting legacy influencing the course and <br />future of telecommunications in Oregon for years to come. <br /> <br />Conference materials, presentations, and award information are located at www.oregonconnections.info.
