Water fitness is a great
way to exercise with little or no impact. The two pools offer 11 different water
fitness classes for a range of abilities and effort from Water Walking to Cardio
Challenge. Burning off that big Thanksgiving dinner is the perfect reason to give
water fitness a try.

The Turkey Burn is drop-in; registration is not required. There is a $5 fee. For more
information, contact Aquatics Section Manager Rich Fay at 541-682-5525.

50 Street Trees to Be Planted Near West Eugene EmX Corridor
Dozens of community volunteers organized by Lane Transit District and Friends of Trees will plant 50 new street trees in
Eugene on Saturday, Dec. 6. The new trees will enhance the neighborhoods between West 5 and West 8 avenues, east of
thth
Garfield Street, adjacent to the West Eugene EmX corridor.

This event will supplement the EmX project landscape plan, created in collaboration with City staff, and will provide more
trees along the corridor than exist today. The new trees will have more room to grow in better soil conditions, and offer
more diversity. Volunteers can sign up for the volunteer event using an online LTD Planting Pre-registration Form, or
contact Friends of Trees at 541-632-3683.

For more information visit the West Eugene EmX project website at weemx.ltd.org, the Friends of Trees website at
friendsoftrees.org, or call Mark Snyder, the City’s urban forester, at 541-682-4819.

EUGENE CITY COUNCIL NEWSLETTER PAGE 1
November 26, 2014
