1) Zone I should be a well irrigated area of closely mowed grass or non- <br /> flammable landscaping materials such as decorative stone, at least 30' in all <br /> directions around the home, <br /> <br /> 2) Zone 2 should be a further irrigated buffer zone with only a limited number of <br /> Iow-growing, fire-resistant plants, <br /> <br /> 3) Zone 3, further from the house, can include Iow growing plants and well- <br /> spaced, well-pruned trees, keeping the total vegetative fuel load as Iow as <br /> possible, and <br /> <br /> 4) Zone 4 is the natural area around the above three landscaped zones.
