ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 52-15-02. <br />of the <br />City Manager of the City of Eugene <br />TEMPORARY AMENDMENT OF EUGENE FIRE CODE <br />ADMINISTRATIVE RULE R- 8.010FC. <br />The City Manager of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />A. Section 8.010 of the Eugene Code, 1971, authorizes the City Manager to <br />administratively adopt a fire code for the City of Eugene. Pursuant to that authority, and in <br />accordance with the procedures set forth in Section 2.019 of the Eugene Code, 1971, on <br />December 22, 2014, Administrative Order No. 52- 14 -02 -F was issued adopting Eugene Fire <br />Code Administrative Rule R- 8.010FC. That Rule amended the Oregon 2014 Fire Code <br />Amendments to the 2012 International Fire Code. <br />B. Temporary amendments to the Eugene Fire Code are necessary in order to exempt <br />from the permitting and code requirements all tents 400 square feet or smaller, regardless of the <br />number of small tents used for an event. Temporary Rules are authorized by EC 2.019(5). <br />NOW THEREFORE, Eugene Fire Code Administrative Rule R- 8.0101 sections <br />105.6.43 and 3103.2 are amended as set out below. This temporary Rule shall remain in effect <br />for a period of 180 days from the effective date of this Order unless replaced earlier by an <br />emergency rule, temporary rule, or permanent rule adopted in accordance with the provisions of <br />EC 2.019, <br />EUGENE FIRE CODE <br />ADMINISTRATIVE RULE R- 8.010FC <br />105.6.43 Temporary membrane structures and tents. An operational permit issued by <br />the Eugene Springfield Fire Marshal's Office is required to operate an air - supported temporary <br />membrane structure, a tent having an area in excess of 1500 square feet or an occupant load of <br />50 or more, or multiple tents that are individually 400 square feet or larger with an aggregate <br />area in excess of 1500 square feet. <br />3103.2 Approval required and compliance. Tents and membrane structures having an <br />area in excess of 1500 square feet or an occupant load of 50 or more, or multiple tents that are <br />individually 400 square feet or larger with an aggregate area in excess of 1500 square feet shall <br />not be erected, operated or maintained for any purpose without first obtaining a permit and <br />approval from the fire code official and must comply with the provisions of this chapter. Tents <br />and membrane structures having an area of 400 square feet to 1499 square feet do not require a <br />permit prior to erection, operation or maintenance, but must comply with the provisions of this <br />chapter. Individual tents and membrane structures of less than 400 square feet and multiple tents <br />and membrane structures of less than 400 square feet, regardless of the total aggregate square <br />Administrative Order - Page 1 of 2 <br />
