The City’s
Facilities crews are out every day tidying up sidewalks, streets, public
structures and the park block areas.

As one crew member was pressure-washing Kesey Plaza on Tuesday,
passersby may have noticed a new sign with a “Keeping water clean for us
all” message. The sign is a good reminder that Eugene residents and
business owners share the common value that clean water is important to
protect in this community. That translates to everyone trying to keep
pollution out of storm drains and ultimately, local waterways.

The City’s Public Works Department and Central Services Facilities
Division collaborate on putting information signs where cleaning activities
are taking place. This also allows the Downtown Facilities crews to
demonstrate good examples of ways to protect storm drains from runoff.
The City’s “clean water” education page, www.happyrivers.org, is also
listed on the sign as a resource for those interested in learning more.

For questions or additional information, contact Stormwater Information
Specialist Kathy Eva at Kathy.a.eva@ci.eugene.or.us or 541-682-2739.

EUGENE CITY COUNCIL NEWSLETTER PAGE 1
July 23, 2015
