Nodal Development Implementation <br /> Two Year Work Program <br /> April 26, 2004 <br /> <br />1. Planning Commission Program Adjustments <br /> <br />Explanation During late spring and summer (2004), planning staff will initiate <br />discussions with the Planning Commission aimed at redirecting the implementation of <br />the Nodal Development program. <br /> <br />Major Tasks · Planning Commission tour node sites (May 24) <br /> · Review and discuss Two Year Implementation Work Program <br /> · Consider potential node map revisions. Remove some, add types, and change <br /> boundaries of a couple. (June) <br /> · Consider program name change (Nodal Development to Smart Growth or <br /> other) (June) <br /> <br />Timeline: May - July, 2004 <br /> <br />2. Develop Smart Growth/Nodal Development Education and <br /> Marketing Materials <br /> <br />Explanation Develop education and marketing materials to expand general <br />community awareness of smart growth/nodal development initiatives. The materials <br />will enable city staff, elected officials, appointed officials, neighborhood and civic <br />leaders to access smart growth/nodal development information in a variety of formats. <br /> <br />Major Tasks · Develop work program and communications plan for the project <br /> · Identify key audiences and stakeholders <br /> · Identify goals and objectives for program marketing <br /> · Identify necessary printed materials, presentations (Powerpoint), displays, <br /> workshops and feedback mechanisms for program marketing <br /> · Produce materials <br /> <br />Timefine July - November, 2004 <br /> <br />3. Amend Overlay Zone to correct identified problems <br /> <br />Explanation In May, 2003 the City Council voted unanimously to initiate <br />amendments to the/ND Nodal Development Overlay Zone regulations adopted in <br />November, 2002.
