Fresh concrete and asphalt pavement and new sidewalks now line much of West 6 and 7 avenues as
thth
crews wrap up this year's major construction. In addition, Charnelton Street was rebuilt in concrete between West 6 and
th
11avenues, and the switch to two-way flow between 6 and 8 was completed Nov. 5.
th thth

New street trees, landscaping, and stormwater filtration plants will be planted
along West 6 and 7 avenues over the next few weeks. The new trees will
thth
represent 46 species, greatly enhancing diversity along the corridor. In
addition, LTD and Friends of Trees will partner again in March to plant more
street trees near the West Eugene EmX corridor, adding to the 55 trees that
were planted with Friends of Trees a year ago.

This winter, LTD crews expect to continue limited work including sidewalk
curb ramp improvements, installation of new streetlights and traffic signal
equipment, and EmX station construction. Utility providers also will continue
to relocate water, natural gas, electrical work, and communications services on
Garfield Street and West 11 Avenue. Major roadwork will resume next year
th
on Garfield Street and West 11 Avenue as weather improves.
th

Meanwhile, crews are widening the West 11 Avenue bridge that spans
th
Amazon Creek east of Bertelsen Road. Construction of the two new bicycle-
pedestrian bridges (near Seneca Road and between Bailey Hill and Bertelsen
roads) is expected to begin by year-end. LTD is supporting the business community by providing free transit
passes to employees of participating employers, and by partnering with the Lane Small Business Development Center
(SBDC) to give a $50 credit toward SBDC services to businesses directly on the project route.
