It will also feature the Love Food Not Waste commercial compost program and product.
Plants, children and pets all benefit from a healthier place to grow and play, and using fewer chemicals reduces runoff from
yards and business properties into the stormwater system and waterways.

Visitors to the City booth who answer a question from the spinning wheel can
participate in a drawing for some great garden-themed products.

The Good Earth Home and Garden show starts Friday, Jan. 22,at 5 p.m., and

runs through Sunday, Jan. 24, until 5 p.m. Staff will be on hand to answer
questions and provide handouts. The booth is a collaborative effort between
Eugene’s Public Works Stormwater Management Program and the Planning
Department’s Waste Prevention and Green Building Program.

For more information, contact Stormwater Information Specialist Kathy Eva in
Public Works Administration, at 541-682-2739, kathy.a.eva@ci.eugene.or.us or
www.happyrivers.org.

Details Finalized For South Willamette Street Improvement Project
The project that will reshape parts of Willamette Street is beginning to materialize. Brown Construction will start work on
Feb. 1. The project calls for permanent changes, including the widening of Willamette Street north of 24 and 29 avenues.
thth
Crews will also add a new traffic signal at the Woodfield Station
driveway north of 29 Avenue.
th

The changes implement a pilot study of a three-lane Willamette Street
from 24 to 29 avenues. The road will be restriped to three lanes
thth
with one travel lane in each direction, a center turn lane, and bicycle
lanes on both sides of the street. In the vicinity of 29 Avenue, the
th
restriping study will include two southbound lanes, as well as the
other changes.

Daytime traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, but may include
some lane shifts or partial closures. A portion of the work will be
completed at night. Businesses in the area have been notified about
the upcoming work and access will be maintained during business
hours.

Contracted construction costs for the improvements are $743,232, with funding coming primarily from transportation
system development charges. Costs of monitoring the pilot study are $150,000.

EUGENE CITY COUNCIL NEWSLETTER PAGE 1
January 21, 2016
