• Any culverts that are used should be arch/bottomless culverts or provide <br />comparable fish protection; <br />• Crossings should allow for uninterrupted downstream movement of wood <br />and gravel, minimize fill and pass 100 -year flood flows; <br />• Alterations must maintain natural meander patterns, channel complexity and <br />floodplain connectivity; these should be restored as part of the alteration <br />wherever feasible; <br />• The applicant should identify any possible channel migration zone and assure <br />there will be no disruption inhibiting movement of the channel; <br />• Culverts that do not meet fish requirements should be removed per the <br />alteration; <br />• Alterations should not result in blockage of side channels, and known barriers <br />to fish passage into side channels should be removed; <br />• Adequate screening should be provided for man-made diversions for <br />irrigation, power, etc. <br />• Soft, bioengineered armoring should be required on any fish -bearing stream. <br />2016 PIDS Manual, Appendix, B-3 B-3-4 <br />
