5. Maintenance vehicle parking shall be provided within 60 feet of planted medians. <br />6. A 1 -foot wide paved concrete perimeter strip shall be provided between the curb <br />and planted area for maintenance safety. <br />7. Vegetated medians to be maintained by the City shall be planted with non- <br />invasive, low -maintenance plant species. <br />8. Vegetated medians shall include an automatic irrigation system. <br />P. Parking Bays <br />Parking bay locations are subject to City approval. The parking bays shall be designed in <br />accordance with the following design standards: <br />1. Minimum width shall be 7 feet. <br />2. Utilities shall not be placed within the planter areas. <br />3. Parking bays shall not reduce street tree or street light requirements. <br />4. When possible, alternate the parking bays with tree planting strips that are equal in <br />length on the opposite side of the street. Design of parking bays and tree planting <br />strips shall meet the requirements of the "Design Standards and Guidelines for <br />Eugene Streets, Sidewalks, Bikeways and Accessways". <br />5. Minimum curb return radii for the reverse curves are 10 feet. <br />6. Parking bays shall be located and designed to maintain runoff into vegetated <br />stormwater facilities. <br />Q. Bike Corrals <br />Bike corrals are private facilities in the public right-of-way to facilitate large volumes of <br />bicycle parking. Bike corrals shall be privately maintained and implemented through a <br />revocable permit. Bike corrals should be located in on -street parking areas to <br />accommodate bicycle parking needs. Bike corrals shall accommodate a minimum of ten <br />bicycles. Additional spaces should be necessary based upon service needs. Bike corrals <br />shall be located adjacent to the facility or property being served. The preferred locations <br />for bike corrals are adjacent to curb extensions and other physical barriers. <br />A six-inch barrier curb shall be placed perpendicular to the curb on each of the bike <br />corral. The curb shall be affixed to the road surface and shall provide adequate <br />protection from adjacent vehicular parking spaces. To facilitate drainage and reduce the <br />collection of debris, curbs should not be constructed abutting the gutter. Corrals shall <br />not be located adjacent to drainage structures or in areas where significant stormwater <br />flow is expected. <br />Public Improvement Design Standards Manual, 2016 Page 2-29 <br />
