C. Signs <br />1. Signage design shall conform to the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control <br />Devices (MUTCD) with Oregon amendments and the City of Eugene Sign Manual. <br />2. Street name signs are required at all intersections including alley intersections and <br />planned regional shared use paths. All street name signs require block numbers, these <br />are obtained from the City. Public streets shall have white on green signs and private <br />streets shall have white on blue signs. <br />3. Stop signs and Yield signs shall be designed and installed only where they meet <br />warrants by traffic engineering study. <br />4. Speed signs -can only be installed by approval of the City in conjunction with the speed <br />limit being approved by the State Speed Access Board. <br />5. "No Parking" signs are required where parking is prohibited based on street width, <br />sight restrictions, and safety requirements. In general, parking is prohibited in the <br />following locations: on curves with less than 100 feet centerline radius; at areas with <br />sight restrictions; and at the end of streets and hammerheads, which shall also include <br />fire lane signs. See the adopted Street Design Standards in Appendix .E for parking <br />restrictions based on street width and classification. For streets that only allow <br />parking on one side of the street, parking shall be located on the side that has a <br />sidewalk. <br />6. Utilize City -owned street light poles for sign supports where possible. All other sign <br />supports shall be perforated steel square tube posts in concrete foundations <br />according to the Standard Specifications and Standard Drawings. <br />7. Pedestrian refuge medians wider than 6 feet shall have in -street pedestrian crossing <br />signs mounted upon the island in each direction of vehicular travel. <br />8. Bicycle wayfinding signs shall be placed at the intersection of two or more bikeways <br />and should be installed at other decision points along bicycle routes. Installation of <br />wayfinding signs shall follow the MUTCD and Oregon Supplemental standards <br />including the use of Oregon ODB1 series signs. Signs shall be placed in advance of all <br />turns on the nearside of the intersection. ODB1 signs shall include destinations, <br />directional arrows and distances. Travel times required to reach each destinations <br />shall be calculated at 10 mph.
