ECC UGENE ITY OUNCIL AIS GENDA TEM UMMARY Community Forum: City Manager Recruitment Meeting Date: September 17, 2007 Agenda Item Number: A Department: Central Services Staff Contact: Alana Holmes www.eugene-or.gov Contact Telephone Number: 682-5765 ISSUE STATEMENT This is a special forum to allow members of the community the opportunity to offer thoughts and ideas about the qualifications and profile of candidates for the position of City Manager. It is also an opportunity to offer suggestions on the job description for the City Manager. BACKGROUND A committee of the City Council, comprised of Councilors Ortiz, Pryor, Bettman and Poling and Mayor Piercy, has recommended that a forum on the issues related to the recruitment and selection of a new city manager be held. The full City Council accepted this recommendation and set Monday, September 17, 2007, as the date for this forum. The forum is another facet of community involvement and engagement in the recruitment and selection processes for the position of city manager. All members of the community are invited to offer comments and thoughts at this forum. In addition, City Councilors requested that invitations be extended to a number of individuals and representatives community groups. This special community forum will be conducted in the same manner as the “Public Forum” at regular City Council meetings. A three-minute time limit will be placed on each speaker. All persons wishing to speak are required to sign up in advance of the start of the forum. ATTACHMENTS A. Current Position Description for City Manager B.
