<br /> <br />ECC <br />UGENE ITY OUNCIL <br />AIS <br />GENDA TEM UMMARY <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Work Session: Lane County Budget Issues <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting Date: April 9, 2008 Agenda Item Number: B <br />Department: Central Services Staff Contact: Angel Jones <br />www.eugene-or.gov Contact Telephone Number: 682-5010 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ISSUE STATEMENT <br /> <br />Lane County Board of Commissioners Chair Faye Stewart will lead a discussion of the County’s current <br />budget environment and the work being done there to address potential cuts in services and programs. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />At a joint meeting of the Eugene City Council, Springfield City Council and Lane County Board of <br />Commissioners on February 12, 2008, the three jurisdictions discussed shared jurisdictional priorities, <br />including the impact of budget cuts on public safety and health and human services currently provided <br />by the County. The council expressed an interest in learning more about Lane County’s budget process. <br /> <br />On February 28, 2008, the council received information from Commissioner Stewart about the FY08-09 <br />Lane County General Fund services prioritization and budget impacts on health and human services. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />Significant budget cuts at Lane County could be felt region-wide and may have an effect on City <br />priorities and budgetary decisions. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br />No options are presented at this time; this is an information item only. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />There is no recommendation from the City Manager on this item. <br /> <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />None.
