That part is true. However, what is not made clear is that as
the Bike/Ped Representative I did not approve the design because of the absence of a bike lane.
My vote of a 1 meaning absolutely unacceptable was given at the final CDCT meeting.

At the last open house there was an outcry from the Bike Community opposing the design. The
input from the open house was not seriously considered and the design was railroaded through
the final meeting despite opposition from bicyclists.

In addition, when the council approved the 18 foot street from a 20 foot street there was never a
public open house to give the public a chance to weigh in on the changed design.

Do not let committee members lead you to believe that I went along with their final design. I have
had a very good working relationship with the members of this committee. Don't let that lead you
to believe I have endorsed the design.

Lyndell Wilken

From: lyndell wilken [mailto:lwbicycle@yahoo.com]
Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2008 10:43 AM
To: *Eugene Mayor and City Council

Subject: Crest Drive Process
Councilors and Mayor:

I know you feel committed to following through with the outcome of the CDCT process.
I had hoped you would see the process has been flawed in that other users of the road
were never given a chance to have their input incorporated into the plan. The neighbors
had their minds made up from day one as to what they would accept and the two years of
open houses and any dialogue contrary to their ideas were never part of the process.

A sidewalk would have been eliminated if the city had not put the brakes on and insisted
- 21 -
Crest Drive CSS Design Recommendation Public Testimony 2/14/08 through 4/8/08
