People can
also provide input through an online survey at Eugene-or.gov/quietzone.

The public meeting on Tuesday is part of a six-month civic engagement
process to determine how best to proceed with a project to improve
crossing safety and silence routine train horns in the downtown and
Whiteaker areas. The results of the civic engagement process will be
presented to an 11-member citizen stakeholder panel in May. The
recommendations of the citizen panel will be forwarded to the Eugene City
Council this summer.

For more information, contact Eric Jones, Public Works special projects, at
541-954-2938.

Veggie Mob Teaches Community about Food Waste Prevention
The Love Food Not Waste commercial compost program is expanding to include food waste prevention education and
outreach at a variety of events this summer. To accomplish this goal, the Waste Prevention and Green Building (WPGB)
team is conducting event outreach as the Veggie Mob and also hosting a food
waste film series.

Veggie Mob is a group of food-clad volunteers and staff who bring awareness to
the issue of food waste in the United States and teach people simple tips to
reduce their food waste footprint. The Mob debuted at the University of
Oregon’s Earth Week celebration. Its next event will be BRING’s Earth Day
Birthday on Saturday, Apr. 23, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Track the adventures of
the Veggie Mob on Twitter or Instagram with #VeggieMob.

The first film series featuring Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story will be held at the
beergarden at 777 West 6th Avenue, from 2 – 4 p.m., Sunday, Apr. 24.
For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Waste Prevention
Analyst Allie Breyer at 541-682-5034.

EUGENE CITY COUNCIL NEWSLETTER PAGE 1
April 21, 2016
