<br />ATTACHMENT B <br /> <br /> <br />Lane County FY 08-09 Proposed Budget <br />Impact on Prevention & Social Services <br /> <br />Veteran’s Services <br />Service Area: <br />At FY 07-08 level of service, supports the award of approximately <br />$7.7 million for vets and beneficiaries. <br /> <br />Reductions/Eliminations: <br />? Reductions would mean 250 veterans would no longer receive <br />services. <br /> <br />Urban/Rural Impacts: <br />? 48% Eugene <br />? 28% Springfield <br />? 24% other Lane County <br /> <br />Extension Services <br /> <br />Service Area: <br />Last year Extension Services reached nearly 116,000 County <br />residents with its five areas of programming. The program has <br />about 840 active volunteers. <br /> <br />Reductions/Eliminations: <br />Extension Services could experience: <br />? Loss of up to 4.00-5.5 FTE <br />? Loss of 'store-front' operation or major reduction in hours of <br />operation. <br />? Relocation of some faculty. <br />? Major reductions in programming, elimination of some <br />programs and likely change to more online courses. <br /> <br />Urban/Rural Impacts: <br />? Between 56% and 84% of Nutrition Program clients are urban. <br />? Horticulture Program serves 200 rural commercial growers and <br />between 300-400 small farms at the urban/rural interface. <br />? Compost work, in collaboration with the City of Eugene, is <br />mostly urban <br />? Master Gardeners program clients are 65% urban and 35% <br />rural. <br />? Family and Community Development program classes and <br />consumer calls are between 65%-70% urban, remainder rural. <br />? 4-H Youth participants are half rural and half urban. <br /> <br />Animal Services <br /> <br />Reductions/Eliminations: <br />? Elimination of field enforcement and kennel services, resulting <br />in the closure of LCAS. This includes a 24/7 emergency <br />response, licensing and adoption services. <br />? In addition to services in the unincorporated areas, LCAS <br />currently has contracts with Eugene and other cities to provide <br />services. <br />Urban/Rural Impacts: <br />?
