He cited current the city of Calgary, Canada as an <br />example of the benefits of eliminating limits on the number of dogs allowed. <br />Tom Walter <br />, 2863 Riverwalk Loop, Eugene, spoke in his capacity as a homebuilder, and refuted <br />the position that the proposed amendments could in any way be considered minor and stated that <br />issues of parking and building heights were by their very nature major and not minor amendments <br />with respect to current City building codes. He said that any amendment limiting building heights <br />to no more than 35 feet would mean that he could no longer build his homes, which are 37 feet in <br />height. <br />Daniel Hill <br />, 4765 Village Plaza Loop, Suite 200, Eugene, spoke in his capacity as an architect with <br />Arbor South Architecture and a general contractor with Arbor South Construction. He said that he <br />is also a member of the Infill Compatibility Standards Committee. He said that his Committee was <br />currently involved in studying aspects of how compatibility affects neighborhoods. He urged that, <br />in needing to properly evaluate issues of density within the City, the Infill Compatibility Task <br />Force be allowed to complete their work. <br />Pauline Hutson <br />, 1025 Taylor Street, Eugene, spoke in favor of the 12 proposed sustainable <br />amendments. She said that Eugene has a very small number of comfortable, affordable rental <br />housing units, and that the 12 amendments should be passed in order to provide more affordable <br />housing for people and families of modest incomes. <br />Jozef Siekiel-Zdziewicki <br />, 1025 Taylor Street, Eugene, spoke in favor of the 12 proposed <br />sustainable amendments. He said that he has been in the construction business in Eugene for the <br />last 17 years, and that this is the only town he has ever been in that uses the mid-roof to determine <br />the height of a building. <br />th <br />David Tobin <br />, 1055 West 18 Avenue, Eugene, said that, as a 43 year resident of the City of <br />Eugene, he was not against density, but believed that it had the potential to create highly <br />concentrated student ghettos in Eugene, robbing his neighborhood of its character. <br />Laura Langdon <br />, 2053 Laura Street, Springfield, speaking as the Director of Government Affairs <br />for the Homebuilders Association of Lane County, said that her organization would like the <br />Planning Commission to keep the record regarding MCA Nos. 5 and 7 open for one week.
