Protect valuable natural resources and encourage their wise management, use, and proper <br /> reuse. <br /> <br />2. Maintain a variety of open spaces within and on the fringe of the developing area. <br /> <br />3. Protect life and property from the effects of natural hazards. <br /> <br />4. Provide a healthy and attractive environment, including clean air and water, for the <br /> metropolitan population. <br /> <br />Obiectivcs <br /> <br />1. Maintain the benefits associated with envirm~nental resources in an urban setting. Those <br /> resources include agricultural lands, clean air and water, forest lands, sand and gravel <br /> deposits, scenic areas, wildlife and wildlife habitat, and vegetation. Policies directed <br /> toward these resom'ces may differ, depending upon whether they are located on urban, <br /> rural, or urbanizable land. <br /> <br />2. Maintain the livability of the metropolitan area by integrating open spaces into urban <br /> development; by planning for a variety of public and private open spaces; and by <br /> considering the natural environment when making planning decisions. <br /> <br /> Improve and maintain air and water quality to meet federal, state, and local standards. <br /> <br /> Minimize problems associated with v~rater quantity and noise. <br /> <br />5. Manage open space areas for their diverse and multiple values. <br /> <br />6.
