I <br />~s <br />ORDINANCE N0. 8640 <br />An Ordinance adopting the survey,-plat and report of the City Engineer as <br />to the proposed opening and establishment of Van Buren Street extended 160 feet <br />South of the South line of 13th Avenue ti'uest in Eugene, Oregon. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. That the survey, plat and report of the City Engineer upon the <br />proposed opening and establishment of Van Buren Street extended. 160 feet South of <br />the South line of 13th Avenue West in Eugene, Oregon, made and filed by him with <br />the City Recorder on April 22, 1940 pursuant to the Resolution of the Common Council <br />of~the City passed April 22, 1940 is deemed satisfactory and is hereby adopted as ~ <br />so made, in the words and figures following, to-wit: <br />"To the Honorable Ntayor and Common Council ~ ii <br />Hof the City of Eugene, Oregon. ~ <br />Gentlemen: <br />~1 <br />Pursuant to the resolution of April 22, 1940, I herewith submit a report of <br />the survey for the opening of Van Buren Street from the South line of Thirteenth j <br />West to the North line of the Lane County Fairgrounds in Eugene, Oregon, I have made;l <br />~a survey of proposed opening and have marked the boundaries thereof. ~,', <br />This report contains: <br />First: <br />thereof, and of <br />Second: <br />Third: <br />such opening. <br />a full and complete description of such Street and boundaries <br />the portion of each tract of land to be appropriated $ierefor. <br />A plat showing the proposed opening together with adjacent proper <br />The present owners of adjacent property which may be benefitted by <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />William C. Bryan <br />City Recorder <br />City Recorder <br />DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE TAKEN FOR THE OPENING OF <br />VAN BUREN STREET FROi~i THE SOUTH LINE OF THIRTEENTH <br />AVENUE WEST TO THE NORTH LIiJE OF THE LANE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS. <br />W.C.T.U. Children's Farm Home <br />Beginning at a point on the South Line of Thirteenth <br />Avenue West where the east line of Van Buren Street, if <br />extended South would intersect the said South line of 13th <br />Avenue West; thence south on said east line of Van Buren <br />Street, if extended, 160 feet, thence west parallel with <br />the South line of 13th Avenue West 66 feet; thence north <br />on the west line of Van Buren Street; if extended, 160 <br />feet to the south line of said 13th Avenue West; and thence <br />east 66 feet to the place of beginning, in Eugene, Lane <br />County, Oregon." <br />Section 2. That to open and establish said street, it will be necessary to <br />acquire the land as shown by said report and the City of Eugene does hereby determine <br />to acquire said land mentioned and described in said report for the purpose oP <br />opening, extending and establishing Van Buren Street extended 160 Peet South of the it <br />South line of 13th Avenue West in Eugene, Oregon. ~~ <br />_ I, <br />Section 3. That Frank Cashman, W. R. Robertson, and Larry Watson, three ~ <br />disinterested freeholders of the City of Eugene and each possessing the qualifications <br />of jurors of the Circuit Court of Lane County, Oregon, are appointed as viewers ~I <br />to view such proposed street and make an assessment of the damages and benefits <br />as provided in Section 4, of Chapter 92 of the Charter of the City of Eugene. <br />Section 4. That said viewers are directed to meet on the 3rd day of June, i~ <br />1940, at 10 o'clock a.m. in the Council Chamber at the City Hall in Eugene, Oregon, <br />and the City Recorder is directed to cause a notice to property owners by publica- ~ <br />tion for at least ten days successively prior to the said day assigned for said <br />viewers to meet in a newspaper published in the City of Eugene, giving the name of %~ <br />and the time and place appointed for them to meet, and specifying with convenient <br />certainty the boundaries or other description of the parcels of private property <br />to be appropriated for said purpose. <br />w ., _ <br />~_. <br />
