<br />An Ordinance levying assessments for the paving of Monroe Street from
<br />the South line of the Southern Pa.ciPic Railroad right of way to the North line of
<br />Seventh Avenue West in the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon.
<br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Eugene did by Ordinance
<br />No. 6138 passed and approved August 8, 1927, cause Monroe Street to be paved from
<br />the South line of the Southern Pacific Railroad right of way to the North line of
<br />Seventh Avenue West in the city of Eugene, Oregon, and
<br />V~FtFAS, ther~~:after the Common Council determined that the assessment
<br />ade for the cost of said improvement was levied upon property other than the
<br />roperty benefitted, and the Council has heretofore declared its intention by
<br />rdinance No. 8644 passed and approved Nlay 27, 1940, to reassess the same, and
<br />ixed a time and place for the hearing of said proposed reassessment as at the
<br />ity Hall in Eugene, Oregon, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. of June 24, 1940, and at said
<br />eating all objections raised were carefully considered and overruled,
<br />Now, Therefore
<br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
<br />Section 1. That the total cost of paving Monroe Street from the South
<br />ine of the Southern Pacific Railraod right of way to the North line of Seventh
<br />venue 4~est in the City of Eugene is the sum of X13,519.11 and interest thereon
<br />tom December 12, 1927, at 6 per cent per annum, and the portion thereof which
<br />as erroneously assessed against property not benefitted by said improvement is
<br />ereby by this ordinance assessed against the property hereinafter described.
<br />Section 2. That the Common Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, has
<br />heretofore given due notice of a hearing to be held on this date, and no objections
<br />jhaving been raised to the reassessment of property abutting upon and benefitted
<br />Eby the paving of l~ionroe Street from the South line oP' the Southern Pacific Rail-
<br />road right of way to the North line of Seventh Avenue ti"Test in the city of Eugene,
<br />Oregon, as descri~:ed in Ordinance No. 8644 and in the notice of reassessment,
<br />which notice as appears by the record herein was duly advertised in the Eugene
<br />Daily News and posted in five conspicuous places in the City of Eugene for more
<br />than ten days before the date of this reassessment, does hereby determine and
<br />assess such property as follows;

<br />60 feet to the Northwest corner of said lot, thence East
<br />133.6 feet to the Northeast corner of Lot 10, Block 24,
<br />thence South 160 feet, thence Ydest 83.6 feet, thence North
<br />100 feet, and thence West 50 feet to the place of beginning,
<br />being all of Lot 10 and a part of Lot 9, Block 24, Packards
<br />Addition to Eugene, Lane County, Oregon.-------------X688.39
<br />ogether with interest on the a~,ove assessment from December 12, 1927, at 6 per
<br />cent per annum.
<br />S'.ection 3. The Common Council of the City of Eugene does hereby de-
<br />clare that the property hereinbefore described is specifically benefitted to the
<br />extent of the assessment hereinbefore set forth, and does hereby declare all of
<br />said assessment to be a lien upon the respective lots, parts of lots or parcels
<br />of land against which said amount is assessed, and declares the former erroneous
<br />assessment cancelled and orders and directs the City Recorder to enter in the
<br />docket of city liens a statement thereof containing:
<br />First: A description of each lot, part of lot or acreage property
<br />liable for such improvement.
<br />Second: The name of the owner or reputed owner thereof, or that the
<br />name of the owner is unknown.

<br />the same in the said docket of city liens.
