138 <br />- =- _- -=____ -- - ---- _ ---- -- - ----- -- - _ - -- - - r - --- <br />ORDINANCE N0. 6688 <br />An Ordinance requiring the removal and discontinuance of all pumps and <br />devices located within the street limits of any street in the City of <br />Eugene within six months and providing a penalty. <br />~EREAS, there are within the City of Eugene a number of fuel pumps and <br />devices erected within the street limits of the Gity of Eugene which <br />constitute an obstruction and also a fire hazard, and <br />gYHEREAS, the City has for a long time as a matter of public policy and <br />police regulation forbidden the installation of any structures of the <br />character mentioned within the limitations of any street, and <br />NiTiEREAS, the City of Eugene deems it a matter of great peril both Prom <br />the standpoint of fire hazard, and street congestion and a matter of <br />injustice to property owners paying for parking space, to longer permit <br />the maintenance of the devices mentioned within the street limits, <br />Therefore, <br />TAE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLL(7V~S: <br />Section I. Effective January 1, 19I~2, it shall be unlawful within the <br />City of Eugene to maintain or to permit to be maintained any gasoline pump or similar <br />device for the vending of volatile oils of any character. <br />Section 2. -Any person, firm or corporation having any gasoline pump or <br />other device through which volatile oils are vended, kept or maintained, be and they <br />are required to remove the same from the city streets of the-City of Eugene on or <br />before January 1, 19l~2 at their own cost and expense. <br />Section 3. Any person, firm. or corporation violating any of the provisions <br />of this ordinance, or failing to observe any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall <br />be liable upon conviction in the Recorder's Court to a fine of not more than X200.00 <br />and for the costs of the prosecution, and in default of the payment of such fine, shall <br />be imprisoned in the city jail one day for each X2.00 of the fine unpaid. <br />Passed by the Common Council <br />this 25th day of August, 19l~1. <br />~S/ JOffid FIELDS <br />City Recorder pro tem <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />26th say of August, 191.1. <br />~S~ ELISHA LARGE <br />Mayor <br /> <br />
