4.42 <br />ORDINANCE N0. 8692 <br />~ An Ordinance to regulate public drinkin fountains in the City of <br />Eugene and imposing a penalty. <br />WHEREAS, examinations by the Public Health Service have disclosed <br />that the. present drinking fountains in the city are antiquated and contami- <br />mated and constitute a threat to the public health and make epidemics possible; <br />Therefore, <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section=1. At any time after thirty days from the passage of this <br />ordinance it` shall be unlawfn,l. °f or any person, firm or corporation to ;install <br />j or maintain in the City of Eugene any fountain to which the public~has~aeoess <br />which is not, equipped with angle jet fountain heads with guards of stsi3d~ard <br />~'~ design and manufacture. <br />~ Section 2. Any. person, firm or corporation maintaining withiri~the <br />Cit of Eu ene a drinkin fountain to which the <br />y g g public has access, and failing <br />,wi~hin~thirty days from the passage of this ordinance to equip the same with <br />a standard design of angle jet fountain head with guard, shall be deemed <br />guilty of a violation of this ordinance and upon conviction thereof before <br />j the.City Recorder, shall be subject to a fine of not more than X200.00 and _ <br />for ~11e: costs of the prosecution, and in default of the payment of the fine, <br />shall~b~ imprisoned one day for each X2.00 of the fine unpaid. <br />j Passed by the Common Council <br />j this 25th day,, of.
