I <br />X46 <br />- --- - ---- - --- - - - ---- --- <br />ORDINANCE 8696 <br />An Ordinance adopting the provisions of Section 32-2414 O,C.L.A., in so <br />far as the same applies to incorporated citibs. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Every person owning or keeping any dog over the age of eight <br />months within the 8ity of Eugene, shall, not later than March 1st of each year, <br />or within thirty days after such person becomes the owner or keeper of such dog, <br />procure from the ,pity Recorder of the City of Eugene, a license for such dog, paying <br />the following license fee: <br />~1.OO for each male or spayed bitch dog. <br />X1.50 for each female dog. <br />Or such fee as the County Court shall hereafter fix in each year. <br />i <br />Section 2. The City Recorder be and he is required to secure license forms <br />i and tags from the County Clerk of Lane County, Oregon. <br />Section 3. No dog shall be permitted to be kept within the City of Eugene <br />unless he is wearing a collar to which shall be affixed the license tag furnished <br />by the City Recorder upon payment of tge license by the owner. <br />Section 4. Any dog found wihhin ffihe City of Eugene without being properly <br />licensed and tagged shall be taken by the city officers, placed in the city pound <br />and a notice shall be published describing the dog and stating that he or she is <br />impounded, and in case. the ovvner fails to secure a license and.--pay the costs of <br />keeping the dog within five days from the date of Such notice, the Chief of Police <br />shall cause the dog to be disposed of. <br />Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any person to permit any female dog <br />in heat, or any dog habitually vicious, or any mad dog to run at large in the <br />i <br />City of Eugene, owned, controlled or harbored by him. <br />Section 6. The Chief of Police of the City of Eugene, vuhenever in his <br />jjudgment he deems it necessary for the preservation of the peace and s~f~ty of the <br />city or its citizens, may summarily kill any habitually vicious or any mad dog <br />~ running at large in the City of Eugene. <br />Section 7. Any person violating any of the terms of this ordinance shall, <br />upon conviction before the City Recorder, be punished by a fine of not less than <br />X5.00 mor more than X25.00, and the costs of the prosecution. <br />Section 8. That Ordinance No. 8465 passed by the Common Council January <br />28, 1936 and approved by the Mayor, ~'anuary 30, 1936, be and the same is hereby <br />repealed. <br />Section 9. V~he~eas, the City of Eugene has adopted the state law~.and:~. <br />taken over the collection of dog licenses within the city, and a campaign should <br />be at once commenced for the licensing of dogs vaithin the city, an emergency is <br />declared to exist and it is necessary for to immediate preservation of the peace, <br />health and safety of tine City of Eugene that this ordinance take effect immediately <br />t <br />
