1~1~ <br />ORDINATvCE 8706 <br />An ordinance adopting by reference the provisions of the Uniform Traffic <br />Act being Sections 115-301 to 115,3,101 of Oregon Compiled Laws Annotated, as <br />amended by Oregon Laws, 1941 in so far as applicable'in the City of Eugene, limit- <br />ing the penalty to the limitations of the Charter of the City of Eugene and <br />declaring an. emergency. <br />THE CITY OF EUGEv'E DOES OF'DAI1T AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The definition of the terms provided in the state Uniform <br />Traffic Act, Title 115, Chapter~3, Article 1, Section 115-301, Oregon Compiled <br />Laws Annotated, as amended by Oregon Laws 1941, together .with all amendments <br />of said section which are now or may hereafter be enacted, are hereby adopted <br />be reference and made a part of this ordinance. , <br />Section 2. ADOPTION OF STATE TRAFFIC ACT. The following enumerated <br />sections of the State "Uniform Traffic Act", Title 115, Chapter 3, OCLA as amended <br />by Oregon Laws, 1941, together with all .amendments wTaich are now or hereafter <br />enacted, are hereby adopted by reference and made a part of this ordinance. All alts which are made unalwful by the above mentioned sectio <br />of the State Motor Vehicle Laws shall be and are hereby declared to be offenses <br />against the City of Eugene when committed wihhin its boundaries and shall be <br />pumished by the penalties hereinafter provided. <br />Section 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions <br />of. this ordinance shall upon conviction in the Recorder's Court be sentenced to pa <br />a fine not to exceed X200.00 and not to exceed any fine provided for in the State <br />Uniform .Traffic Act and may be imprisoned in the city jail one day for each 2.00 <br />of the fine unpaid . <br />Section 5. l'~THEREAS, violations of the traffic laws have become so numerous <br />and so deadly as to menace the lives and property of the people of the pity of <br />Eugene, an emergency is therefore declared to exist and tt is declared to be <br />necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health and safety of the <br />City of Eugene that this ordinance take effect upon its passage by the Common <br />Council and its approval by the Mayor, and it is so ordered. <br />Passed by the Common Council <br />this 15th day of December, 1941. <br />/s/ JOHN FIELDS <br />City Recorder pro-tem <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />16th day of December, 1941. <br />/s/ ELISHA LARGE <br />Mayor <br />t <br />
