I <br />~'7 4 <br />ORDII3ANCE N0. 8716 <br />An Ordinance authorizing the acceptance of equipment, supplies, material ~I <br />and money for defense purposes from the Federal Government. ~ <br />T;'TT~REAS, The Federal Government may give, grant, loan, lease, or othervaise <br />make available to the City of Eugene for• national defense purposes certain equip- <br />ment, supplies, rnater.~ial or money necessary to the proper•~ functioning of defense ~~, <br />activities in this city, <br />Therefore <br />THE .CITY 0 F EUGE?~]E DOES ORDAIDI AS F0LLO9•!S : <br />Section 1. The 1VTayor of the City of Eugene is authorized to accept on <br />behal~' of this city all eglripment, supplies, and material, and money to. enable <br />:~ this city to carry out any program, act or activity necessary to tree proper <br />functioning of defense activities in this city, The Mayor is hereby <br />authorized to execute "such agreements or docurr~ents and to agree to such <br />reasonable terms and conditions as may be required by the Federal Government <br />for the grant, loan, lease or other use or possession of said equipment, supplies, <br />materials, or money. <br />Section 2. This ordinance is passed as an emergency measure, and the <br />Council does by the vote by vahich this ordinance is passed nereb•y declare tn.at <br />a National emergency exists, and it is declared necessary for the immediate <br />preservation of the peace, health, and safety of the City of Eugene that this. <br />ordinance shall become im..mediately effective, and it is so ordered. <br />Pa:7sed by the Common Council <br />this 24th day of February, 1942 <br />A;~proved by the Tviayor this <br />2nd day of T4'larch, 1942. <br />s/ John Fields <br />Recorder rro Tem <br />/ /_Elisha Large <br />Mayor <br /> <br />
