194 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE N0. 8749 <br />An Ordinance amending Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8265, entitled, <br />"An Ordinance providing for the disposal of garbage, defining garbage, providing <br />regulations for the manner of disposal, prices to be charged, requiring a license' <br />and bond, and generally regulating the collection and removal of garbage in the <br />City of Eugene, repealing former ordinances and declaring an emergency," and passe <br />by the Common Council and approved by the Mayor on August 24, 1931. <br />TIE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO~~1S: <br />Section 1. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8265 entitled, "An Ordinance <br />providing for the disposal of garbage, defining garbage, providing regulations <br />for the manner of disposal, prices to be charged, requiring a license and bond, <br />and generally regulating the collection and removal of garbage in the City of <br />Eugene, repealing former ordinances and declaring an emergency," passed by the <br />Common Council and approved by the Mayor on August 24, 1931, be and the same is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 4. Any person, firm or corporation desiring to engage <br />in the business of hauling garbage upon the streets of the City of Eugene <br />shall first make application to the City Recorder for a license, and shall <br />tender with such application a bond in the sum of 500.00 with sufficinet <br />sureties, satisfactory to the Recorder conditioned that such applicant shall <br />in all respects comply with the laws, ordinances and regulations of the City <br />of Eugene, and shall, coincidentally with tge making of such application, <br />pay the first quarter of an annual license fee of 80.00 which license fee <br />shall be payable in four installments in advance of each quarter, and the <br />City Recorder shall thereupon issue to such person, firm or corporation a <br />license to haul garbage in the City of =ugene, which license shall continue <br />in force (unless forfeited otherwise) until and as long as the license fee <br />shall be paid in advance of each quarter, provided however, that any licensed <br />garbage hauler may appropriate edible garbage for feeding purposes to his own <br />use by paying an additional annual license fee of X200.00 to be payable in <br />four installments in advance of each quarter." <br />Scetion 2. WHEREAS the maintainanee of the City Dump Ground for garbage in <br />the City of Eugene is a matter affecting the health of the City, in that any <br />deterioration may give rise to epidemics, and the amendment in the Ordinance make <br />provision for the better care of the garbage of the City, an emergency is hereby <br />declared to exist, and it is a necessary provision of the peace, health, and safe <br />to the City of~Fugene that this Ordinance take effect immediately upon its passag <br />by the Common Council and its approval by the Mayor, and it is so ordered. <br />Passed by the Common Council this <br />day of June, 1942 <br />/s/~dohn Fields <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />____~,day of dune , 1942 <br />/s/ Elisha Large <br />City Recorder Pro Tem <br />Mayor <br /> <br />
