I <br />ins <br />-- - -- <br />-- - ~ <br />ORDINANCE N0. 8752 ~I <br />An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 8749 passed by the Common Council on <br />the 29th day of June, 1942, and approved by the N~ayor on the 30th day of June, <br />1942, which ordinance amended _,Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8265. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOt,~dS: <br />Section 1. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8265 entitled "An Ordinance <br />providing for the disposal of garbage defining garbage, providing regulations <br />for the manner of disposal, prices to be charged, requiring a license and bond, <br />and generally regulating the collection and removal of garbage in the City of <br />Eugene, repealing former ordinances and declaring an emergency" passed by the <br />Common Council an approved by the Mayor on august 24, I93I, be and the same is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 4. Any person, firm, or corporation desiring to engage <br />in the business of hauling garbage upon the streets of the City <br />of Eugene shall first make application to the City Recorder for <br />a license, and shall tender with such application a bond in the <br />sum of X500.00 with sufficient sureties, satisfactory to the <br />Recorder conditioned that such applicant shall in all respects <br />comply with the laws, ordinances and regulations of the City of <br />Eugene, with respect to hauling and disposal of garbage in the <br />City of Eugene, and shall, coincidentally with the making of <br />such application, pay the first quarter of an annual license fee <br />of X80.00 which license fee shall be payable in four installments <br />in advance of each quarter, and the City Recorder shall thereupon <br />issue to such person, firm or corporation a license to haul <br />garbage in the City of Eugene, which license shall continue in <br />force unless forfeited otherwise, until and as long as the license <br />fee shall be paid in advance of each quarter, provided however, <br />that any licensed garbage hauler may appropriate edible garbage <br />for feeding purposes to his own use, by paying an additional <br />annual license fee of 100.00 to be payable in four installments <br />in advance of each quarter." ' <br />Section 2. V~HEREAS, the maintenance of the City Dump Ground for garbage <br />in the City of Eugene, is a matter affecting the health of the City, in that any <br />deteriorations may give rise to epidemics, and the amendment in the Ordinance <br />makes provisions for the better care of the garbage of the City, an emergency <br />is hereby declared to exist, and it is necessary for the protection of the peace, <br />health and safety of the City of Eugene that this Ordinance take effect immediately <br />upon its passage by the Common Council and its approval by the Mayor, and it is <br />so ordered. <br />Passed by the Common Council <br />this 26th day of ~et_ ber, 1942. <br />/sf John Fields <br />City Recorder Pro Tem <br />Approved b,y the Mayor thi s <br />28th day of October , 1942. <br />/s/ Elishh Large <br />~+layor <br />
