I <br />2~2 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 8762 <br />An Ordinance to regulate the storage of explosives and regulating com- <br />bustible materials and rubbish of a combustible nature. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation <br />to keep for sale or storage in any store, building, or other place within tl~e <br />corporate limits of the City of Eugene any explosives, provided that not to exceed <br />50 pounds of gun powder, giant powder, and dynamite, not to aggregate to exceed <br />100 pounds, may be stored or kept for sale within the City limits and such amount <br />or any portion thereof shall be kept in a box plainly marked on the cover with the <br />name of the contents, and such box shall be provided with handles for the easy <br />moving thereof and shall be kept iri such -places within the room of the building as <br />shall be directed by the Chief Fire Warden. <br />Section 2. No person, firm, or copporation shall maintain, permit, or allow <br />any pile of rubbish, boards, old lumber, barrels, old boxes, or other inflammable <br />material except such as may be prepared for and actually stored for fuel, to be <br />or remain upon the premises owned by or under the control of such person, firm, <br />or corporation within the City of Eugene. And any person, firm, or managing officer <br />of such corporation who shall refuse or neglect for a period of three days to <br />remove such inflammable materials from said premises, of ter being notified so to <br />do by the City marshal or chief fire warden, ,shall be punished upon conviction therE <br />of before the city recorder as directed in Section 3 of this ordinance. <br />Section 3. Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance, upon <br />conviction thereof before the city recorder, shall be deemed guilty of a misdem.eanoi <br />and shall be punished by a fine of not less than X50.00 nor more than w100.00 <br />and, in default of the payment thereof, shall be imprisoned in the city jail one <br />day for every X2.00 of sucYr fine and costs. <br />Passed by the Common Council <br />this 22nd day of February, 1943. <br />/s/ John Fields <br />Recor--der Pro Tem <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />23rd day of February, 1943. <br />/s/ El isha Lame <br />Mayor <br /> <br />
