<br />2~0 <br />-- ----, -----_ --- - - _ -_ - - _. -- --= _ _-_ - -- - -_-= -- - _ _ _- - - _ ---_ - _ - --- _ - --. -_ _ - - - --=_ -- - -_ - - =-- --r---=---_ - _ - --_-- <br />therefrom within five days from such notice, and at the expiration of such period <br />the Chief of Police shall summarily close the offending hotel, rooming house <br />or lodging house and not permit the same to be operated further. <br />Section 21. Nothing in this Ordinance contained shall be construed to apply <br />to any eleemonsynary, religious, benevolent or charitable association or to any <br />student fraternity or sorority houses or dormitories conducted at or near the <br />University of Oregon. <br />Section 22. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith <br />are hereby repealed. <br />Section 23. 4Jhereas, hotels, rooming houses and lodging houses are operated <br />in the City of Eugene that are not complying with the fire hazard, building and <br />sanitary regulations of the City of Eugene, and that they constitute a rr~enance and <br />a danger to lives and property, an emergency is declared to exist and it is <br />hereby declared that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, <br />health and safety of the City of Eugene that this Ordinance take eft_'ect immediatel; <br />upon its passage by the Common Council and its approval by the Mayor and it is <br />so Ordered. <br />Passed by the Common Council <br />this 22ndday of March,l943 <br />/s/ ~Tohn Folds <br />Recorder Pro Tem <br />Approved by the Nayor this <br />23rd day of larch ,1943 <br />/s/ Elisha Large <br />ivayor <br />
