3~3 <br />ORDINANCE NO 881}q <br />v <br />lNHEREAS the City of Eugene has adopted the State Uniform Traffic Aot by its <br />Ordinance No. 8825 passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor, May 14, 191.5, it ia~ <br />deemed necessary that an Ordinance be adopted directing the manner of declaring signs, <br />markings and traffic control signals as ox"ficial. <br />ORDINANCE N0. 8819 <br />An Ordinance providing for the adoption and installation of official street and <br />alley signs, Markings and traffic control signals in the City of Eugene. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOtyS: <br />Seeti.0 : 1. The Ci :;~ i~u:~ager cf the City of Eugene be and he is hereby authorized <br /> <br />and directed to make a canvass of the various streets, alleys, and public places of the <br />City with a view to the installation of signs, markings and traffic control signals having <br />to do with the convenience and safety of the flow of traffic in the City of Eugene and <br />from time to time to submit to the Council, recommendations with respect 'to the instal- <br />lation of such signs, markings and traffic control signals. <br />Section 2. The Common Council shall by resolution as recommendations are sub- <br />mitted by the City Manager, either approve or die-approve of the same, and if approved, <br />the Chief of Police is directed to cause to be installed signs, markings and traffio control <br />signals as approved upon his recommendation to the Council, and when so installed, all <br />such signs, markings and traffio control si finals whether heretofore or hereafter so instal- <br />led shall be deemed and considered as official signs, markings and traffic control signals <br />to be obeyed by every person using the streets and alleys of the City of Eugene, and a <br />violation of their directions shall be punishable as provided in Ordinance No. 8825. <br />Section 3.
