4f1 <br /> <br />public places within such corporation and four public places in the territory pro- <br />posed to be annexed for a like period. Such notice shall distinctly state the <br />proposition to be so submitted and shall designate especially the boundaries of <br />the territory so proposed to be annexed and the electors shall be invited thereby <br />to vote upon such proposition by placing upon their ballots the words "For <br />Annexation" or "Against Annexation".- <br />Section 9. The Judgos and Clerks, before entering upon the dis- <br />charge of their duties at such election shall each take and subscribe before an <br />officer authorized to administer the same, an oath, that he will honestly and <br />faithfully discharge his duties as such Judge or Clerk. In case of the absence <br />or inability of any Judge or Clerk so appointed to act at such eleotion, then the <br />qualified electors present at the polls, before proceeding to vote, may choose an <br />elector to act in his place from among the number, who shall duly qualify as <br />aforesaid before entering upon the discharge of his duties as Judge or Clerk of <br />such election. <br />WHEREAS, it is desired to submit to the electors of the City'of <br />Eugene and the electors of the proposed annexed area a proposal for annexation, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, tho sanitary conditions, water supply and electric supply <br />are inadequate and constitute a menace to the health and safety of the people of <br />the proposed annexed area, an emergency is therefore declared to exist and it is <br />necessary for the immediate preservation of the pease, health and safety of the <br />City of Eugene that this ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage a1d <br />approval by the Mayor, and iT' IS SO ORDERED. <br />Passed by the Common Council <br />this 13th day of May, 19I~6. <br />fs~ John Fields <br />City Reoorder. <br /> <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />1!}th day of May, 19l~6. <br />~sj Earl L.
