<br />ORDIAIANCE N0. 8917 <br />An Ordinance amending Subdivision (a) of Section 953 of Ordinance No. 8871 <br />entitled "An Ordinance providing for the establishment of a bureau of fire pre- <br />vention, providing officers therefor and defining their powers and duties, and <br />prescribing regulations for fire prevention and life safety in connection with <br />hazardous materials and processes:", which ordinance was passed by the Common <br />Gounail on the 11th day of February, 1916 and approved by the Mayor on the 12th <br />day of February, 191,6. <br />TJiE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Seotion 1. That Subdivision A of Section 953 of Ordinance 8871} of the <br />City of Eugene entitled "An Ordinance providing for the establishment. of a Bureau <br />of F~.re Prevention, providing Officers therefor and defining their powers and <br />duties, and prescribing regulations for fire prevention and li8e safety in con- <br />nection with hazardous materiels and processes", which Ordinanoe was passed by <br />the Common Council on the 11th day of February, 191.6, and approved by the Mayor <br />on the 12th day of February, 1916, be and the same is hereby amended to read as, <br />follows: <br />" 953• CAPACITY AND LOCATION OF ABOVE GROUPdD TANKS. <br />(a) The location of a tank with respect to distance from tank shell to. <br />line of ad3oining property or nearest building shall depend upon the construction, <br />contents, equipment, and greatest dimension (diameter, length or height) of the <br />tank; (provided, however, that the Council in its discretion may direct the issu- <br />ante of conditional permits where the present condition of the proposed location <br />is safe, but may subsequently become dangerous by reason of encroaching construct- <br />ion; and in such event the Council may direct the issuance of a conditional permit <br />that shall be valid so long as the then conditions continue, with the right to <br />cancel the same and require replacement of the tanks and dykeing) in conformity <br />with the following provisioner <br />a <br />Group A Tanks: Any a11-steel, gas-tight tank constructed in compliance <br />with these or equivalent standards and equipped either with (1) an approved perman- <br />ently attached extinguishing system or (2) an approved floating roof, which is to be <br />used only for the storage of refined petroleum products or other flammable liquids <br />not sub3ect to boil-over, shall be so located that the distance between shell of <br />tank and property line or nearest building shall not be less than the greatest <br />dimension (diameter, length or heighth) of the tank, except that such distance need <br />not exceed 120 feet. <br />psi <br />
