~~~2 <br />-_ _-- -- <br />STAIRS: The stairs shall ba made .of ~" x 1~" flat mild steel bars <br />and the strips shall be 20° Long and not over 10" rise. Stairs to have a rail-" <br />ing made of 1" pipe and to be 20" from stairs, and to be securely fastened by <br />means of 1° pipo supports not over 7 f~. apart. <br />FIREMA.N~S LADDER: The firemants ladders shall consist of 5/16» x 2" <br />mild steel bars for sides and have 3/!~" round mild steel rungs, spaced not over <br />11.x" apart, tenonted on eacri end and riveted to each side of ladder. .Ladders <br />to extend from within 12 ft. of the ground to not less than 5 ft. above the <br />roof of the building. <br />Each balcony to be securely fastened to building and supported by <br />means of 14" square braces, four in number, securely bedded into the tivall as <br />may be directed by the building inspector. <br />Fire escapes when finished to be painted with at least one coat of <br />red lead. <br />That attached hereto i;s a blue print of the specifications herein <br />stated, and made a part of this Ordinance. <br />Section 3.. That Section 3, City of Eugene Ordinance No. 1709, be and the same <br />is hereby amended so as to read as follows; <br />Section ~: Fire escapes shall extend to the ground level by an <br />approved counter-balanced stairway or a permanentx:stairiray to the ground level <br />when the Chief of the r'ire Prevention Bureau with the concurrence of the Chief <br />of the Fire Department shall deem such to be necessary, as in the case of schools, <br />factories, hot~~s, hospitals, detention homes and buildings of public assembly. <br />Sec, 4. That Section 6, City of Eugene Ordinance No. 1709, be and the same <br />is hereby amended so as to read as followss <br />Section 6. All fire escape landings, firemants ladders or eounter- <br />balanced stairways shall be not less than 12 feet from ground level. A stand- <br />pipe shall be erected with all fire escapes, with hose attachments at each story <br />with Siamese connection 6 ft. and 6" from sidewalk on all buildings more than <br />three stories in height, as follows: <br />STAP:D-PIPE TABLE <br />Size of stand-pipe C1~ inchy, ~5 story) <br />1.~. inch (6 or 7 story) <br />5 inch <br />Size of valves 22 inch 22 inch. 22 inch <br />Siamese <br />Size of inlet <br />inlet 2 way <br />2y inch 3 way' <br />2~ inch 1~ way <br />22 inch <br />Roof <br />Size inlet <br />of roof inlet 2 way <br />22 inch 2 way <br />22 inoh 3 way <br />22 inch <br />All thread inlets and outlets to be threads with National Standard threads. <br />Sec. 5.
