From Thomas Price 09/19/2016
CityLeadership,
What I heard was a quieter energy that was not in favor of the Brown/Clark Initiative but would like
communityinvolvement as we move forward to refine the planning process, so it embodies the energy of
Envision Eugene in a way that trustis co-created with the outcome.
As oneof your Sustainability Commissioners, my independent voice has always spoken out for a more
balanced system wherethe homeowner and renterhas as much say in the process as the developer and
bigbusiness.
To be sustainable, weneed to achieve a synergistic balance between people and profit. While our social
economic system embodies ownershipoflandresources, ifthere's ever a place to create more social
equity, that place is our community equity of land use planning. The city as a whole is a shared resource
forallits citizens.We who liveand work in its boundaries day in and day out share in its resources either
equally and justly, or not. While capitalism and social equity do not seem to fit in the same container, I
believe it is the responsibility of our city leadership to worktoward balancing social equity with a
capitalist driven economy. This is how we create trust.
Please don't let the vocalminority drown out the quieter Common Good Majority.
ThomasPrice
TitanToastmaster
Eugene,SustainabilityCommissioner
EugeneBranch Collaborative
Of the:
International Living Future Institute,
Cascadia Green Building Council,
LivingCommunity&LivingBuilding Challenge.
Working with you,
I Connect & Protect!
@ThomastheBrave
@TBrave on Twitter.
541-554-2581/877-278-3083
Safety, Health, & Environmental Works, World Wide
PacInfo - SimplifiedComputing
& Tom's MobileMarketing
"You don't choose your future, your habits do." ~ Paul E.
