THREADED FI'I'TIl`IGS: (a) P7_ain screvred fittings for use with wrought ~~ <br />i <br />~ iron or steel pipe vents may be of cast iron, or of galvanized iron, of standard weights ~~ <br />and dimensions. (b) Screwed drainage fittings for use on soil waste, or leaders shall <br />be of the recessed drainage type, with smooth interior. waterway, and with threads tapped <br />out of solid metal. (c) All screwed fittings on water supply pipes shall be either brass <br />or malleable . (d) All malleable iron fittings shall be galvanized. (e) American Stand- <br />and pipe thread shall be used on all threaded fittings. <br />Sect3_on 18. FLOOR FLANGES FC?R V~TATER%~CL05ET5. Floor flanges for water-closets shall be <br />not less than three-sixteenths of an inch thic}:, if of brass. If of cast iron, flanges shall <br />be full 3/II inch thick, drilled and .tapped for 1/l~, inch threaded brass rod. <br />ARTICLE 5. <br />Section 9. Slipjoints are permitted on either side of traps if not concealed. Unions <br />on the s ewer side of traps shall be ground and faced, and shall not be concealed. <br />Section 11, CONPIECTIONS V~TITH TOILETS SLOP SIPIKS. Every toilet, slop sink, pedestal <br />urinal or similar fixture hsving a trap outlet above the floor shall be securely connected <br />to the soil or waste pipe by a heavy flange of either brass or iron. The flange shall be <br />securely fastened to the soil or waste pipe by a caulked, screvred or soldered joint and <br />the future connected to the f]_ange by means of dravrn brass bolts tapped into the flange <br />of a diameter of not less than one-quarter (4) of one (1) inch. The joint betvyeen tkie fix- <br />ture and the flange shall be made gas and vratertight by means of asbestos, graphite gaskets <br />•~ <br />~, or with putty paste. The use of rubber washers for arty such connection is expressly for- <br />I _ <br />j bidden. The foregoing provisions, hovrever, shall not be taken as prohibiting in such <br />joints the use of metal to metal connection or of a screw connection. 1~lall toilets shall be <br />~ exer~ipted from the provisions of this section, but shall be connected by and vrith approved <br />I wall toilet hangers and connections. <br />Section 12. INCREASERS ATm REJUCF,FtS. 1TThere different sizes of pipe or pipes and fit- <br />s <br />zings are to be connected, proper size tapered increasers or reducers, shall be used. <br />Section 15. P1EP1 D,3ATERIALS. The enumeration or specification of certain materials <br />and practices in this ordinance shall be interpreted as approvirig other materials and <br />practices not enumerated acid specified herein which are proved by scientific tests .or by <br />experience to be the subs tantia.l equivalent of the requirements of this code . Any other <br />material than that specified in this code, vrhich proper administrative authority approves <br />as being equally efficient, may be permitted. <br />ARTICLE 11 <br />Section 1. P1IATERIAL. All main or branch soil and vraste pipes within the building shall <br />be off' cast iron, lead or galvanized wrought or steel pipe, except that no galvanized steel <br />or wrought iron pipe shall be used for underground soil or vraste pipes or in building over <br />~ four stories in height . <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
