~1~ <br />ORDINANCE NO. 9169 <br />An Ordinance defining, prohibiting and providing a penalty for the erection, mainten- <br />ante or possession of electrical fences, and declaring an emergency. <br />THE CITY OF EUGr~V E DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOVdS <br />Section 1. ELECTRICAL FENCES DEFII~IED. The term electric fence as used in this Ordin- <br />ante shall be defined as follows: Any fence, barrier, partition or obstruction electrically <br />charged or connected with any electric source in such a manner as to transmit an electrical <br />shock or charge to any person, animal or thing which might come in contack therewith. <br />Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any ovazer, lessee or person in possession of any <br />building or real property to construct, maintain, place or allow to be constructed, main- <br />tained or placed on, about or upon such building or real property any electric fence. <br />Section 3. Any person or persons who shall violate the provisions of this Ordinance <br />shall, upon conviction thereof, before the municipal Court for the City of Eugene, be fined <br />not more than X200.00 or be imprisoned not to exceed 100 days. <br />Section 4. YJI-IERE~.S, the immediate enactment of this Ordinance is deemed necessary for <br />the maintenance of the peace, health and safety of the city and its inhabitants, an emer- <br />gency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall become immediately effective <br />upon its passage by the Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />Massed by the Common Council <br />this 1l~th da y of June, 1918 . <br />/s/ Henry F.
