r~9~ <br />ORDINANCE N0. 9236 <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING REGULATIONS FOR TRAFFIC AP1D PARKIPIG ON CERTAIN STREETS IN THE <br />CITY OF EUGENE, OREGON, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND RE- <br />PEALING AI,L ORDIPIAPJCE5 OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES .INSOFAR AS THEY ARE IN CONFLICT HEREt'~ITH, <br />AA1D DECLARIl~IG AN EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section l: That it shall be unlawful to drive or operate an automobile, motorcycle or <br />other vehicle, of any kind or nature whatsoever, 30 days from the date of passage of this ord- <br />inance, upon High Street from Thirteenth Avenue to Sixth Avenue; Oak Street from Thirteenth <br />Avenue to Fifth Avenue; Olive Street from Thirteenth ~~veriue to Fifth Avenue, except in a north- <br />erly direction, and except at intersections of said streets. <br />Section 2: That it shall be unlawful to drive or operate an automobile, motorcycle or <br />other vehicle, of any kind or nature whatsoever, 30 days from the date of passage of this ord- <br />inance, upon Pearl Street from Fifth Avenue to Thirteenth Avenue; Charnel ton Street fr an Fifth <br />Avenue to Thirteenth Avenue; Willamette Street from Fifth Avenue to Thirteenth Avenue, except in <br />a southerly direction, and except at intersections of said Streets. <br />Section 3: That it shall be unlawful to drive or operate an automobile, motorcycle or <br />other vehicle, of any kind or nature whatsoever, 30 days from the date of passage of this ord- <br />finance, upon Seventh Avenue from Charnelton Street to nigh Street; Broadway from Charnelton <br />Street to High Street, except in an easterly direction, and except at intersections of said <br />streets. <br />Section !t: That it shall be unlawful to drive or operate an automobile, motorcycle or <br />other vehicle, of any kind or nature whatsoever, 30 days from the date of passage of this <br />ordinance, upon Eighth .°{venue from High Street to Charnel ton Street; Tenth Avenue from High <br />Street to Charnelton Street, except in a vresterly direction, and except at intersections of said <br />streets. <br />Section 5: Penalty. Any person, firm or co rporation violating any of the provisions <br />of this ordinance shall, upon convic ti.on in the Municipal Court of the City of Eugene, be fined <br />not to exceed ~j100.00 and costs of prosecution, or be imprisoned in the City Jail one day for <br />each X2.00 of the fine unpaid. <br />Section 6: V`y'HE£ZEAS, the traffic conditions in the City of Eugene are dangerous and in <br />immediate need of regulation, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and it is declared to <br />be necessary for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of the City of Eugene that <br />this Ordinance take effect irrnnediately upon its passage by the L'ommon Couxicil and its approval <br />by the Mayor, and it is so ordered. <br />Passed b y the Common Council this <br />11th day of October, 1918. <br />/s/ Henry F.
