<br />~ Section 1. FALSELY A-SUn•ZIPIG TO BE APd OFFIC'~R.
<br />~ It shall be unlawful for any person to assume to be, or to act as, a peace of.figer,

<br />the City of Eugene, or any star or uniform similar thereto, unless such person is duly

<br />authorized .

<br />It is unlawful for any I~ra¢nn riot an officer or enlisted rian of the United States
<br />.Army, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard, or actually emplo~Ted b# any other federal agency
<br />including customs ~~vice, immigration service or guards upon federal projects, to tivear
<br />the uniform of such service, or any distinctive art of such unif~zrrl, or a uniform any
<br />part of which is. similar to a distinctive part of the duly prescribed uniform of such
<br />service; provided, however, that the prov~_sions of this section shall not apply to any
<br />person au thorized to wear such uniform by the lawn of the United States, and in partic-
<br />ular s::ction 125 of the national defence act as amended (10 U.S.C.A., section 1393), or
<br />to the officers and personnel of state, county and local agencies duly authorized by law,
<br />or to Boy Scouts or Sea Scouts or s imilar lavrful organizations .
<br />It is unlawful. for any person not an officer or dul~r employed by, or holding a valid
<br />commission in, any state, county or local law enforcement body, or other state governmental
<br />agency, to wear the uniform of such state, county or local agency, or any distinctive part
<br />i
<br />of such uniform, or a uniform any part of vrhich is similar to a d~_stivctive part of the
<br />I duly prescribed uniform thereof.
<br />Section 3. FALSELY ACTING AS AN OFFICER
<br />If any ~rsbn shall falsely asstimie to be a police' officer, peace officer or other

<br />I
<br />officer of the City of Eugene, or other municipal corporation and shall take upon him-
<br />~~ self to perform any overt act as such off;_cer, or shall persuade or attempt to persua~.e
<br />any other person to perform any act whatsoever, to be unlawful.
<br />Section 1~. Upon cor_viction of either of tkie o~'fenses set forth in Sections 1, 2. or 3
<br />of this ordinance, the person committing said offense shall be punished bar fine of not less
<br />I
<br />than X5.00, nor more than x}200.00 or by imprisariment for not more thin sixty days.
<br />Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
<br />repealed
<br />Secticn 6. Whereas, certain persons vrithin the City of Eugene have been falsely
<br />assuming to be police officers, an emergency is declared to exist, and it is necessary
<br />~, for the peace, health and safety of the City of Eugene that thi.= or-dinance take effect
<br />immediately upon its passage by the Common Council and its approval b;,~ the Pdayor., and it
<br />is s o ordered .
