~2~4 <br />and therCommon Council does hereby appoint the judges and clerks to serve in e~?ch of said <br />polling places 2.s herein designated, to Vrit: <br />In the folloi~ring list of Judges and Clerks, the first named shall be a Judge a,^d Chairman <br />of the election board; the second named sh all be a Judge, and the next three shall be desi gnated <br />as first, second and third clerks: <br />Section 6. The polls shalli~e opened in each of said polling places at eight oTClock in <br />the morning and shall be kept open until eight oTClock in the evening on said electi ~. day. <br />Section 7. The first named Judge of said election board as provided for in this ~rd- <br />finance shall be Chairman of the Board of yrhich he is a member, and the ballots cast at said <br />election shall be counted, tabulated and returned to the City Recorder as provided by law. <br />Section 8. The City Recorder is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of said <br />election by publication in a newspaper of meneral circulation in such corporat~.on and in such <br />territory so proposed to be annexed once.:each tiveek for the period of four successive vreeks <br />prior to such election, also by posting notices thereof in four public places in the; territory <br />proposed to be annexed for a like period. Such notice shall distinctly state the proposition <br />to be so submitted and shall designate especially theboundaries of the territory so -proposed <br />to be ar~zexed and the electors shall be ~.vited the-reb~r to vote upon such proposition by placing <br />upon their ballots the words "For Annexation" or "Agair..st Annexationrr~ <br />Section 9. The Judges and Clerltis, before entering upon the discharge of their duties. at <br />such election shall each talcs a.nd subscribe before an officer' authorized to administer the same, <br />an oath, and he gill honestly and faithfully discharge his duties as such Judge or Clerk. In <br />case of the absence or inability of any Judge or Clerl: so appointed to act at such election, t hon <br />the qualified electors present at the polls, before proceeding to vote, may choose an elector <br />to act in his ply=ce from a mon the nu~berm who shall qualify as aforesaid before entering upon <br />the discharg e of his duties as Judge or Clerk of sucr. election. <br />WHEREAS, it is desired to submit to the electors of tha Cii.y of Eugene and the electors <br />of the area hei°einbefore described a y~roposal for annexation, and <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br /> <br />
