<br />NO~~ THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EII'7ENE DOES ORDAIN 4S FOLLOa1rS:
<br />Secti:~n 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 5239, passed by the Con:~mon Council on the
<br />loth day of September, 1927, a.nd a proved by the "t~iayor on the 14th darT of Sente~~~her, 1927, as
<br />amended by Section 1 of Ordinance Pdo. 9090, passed ry the Common Council on January 12,
<br />1948, and approved ry the ?~~ayor o n the lath day of January, 19L~ s, l=e, and the same is hereby
<br />amended to read .as follows:
<br />"SEc tin 2. The maximum rate of .fare which nzay re c hs~aed by the grantee herein for
<br />each trio in or.e general direction wwithin the nrPsent limits of the City of. Eugene shall not
<br />be more than ten cents; provided, however, the Common Council of the City of Eu~ eve retains
<br />the right to revoke this increase in r~a,tes at any time after due hearing and notice.
<br />"Section 2. V~TtIE2EAS, City Transit Lines have declared that they are now operating

<br />buses within the Cit y o_f Eu,_ene at a f_ financial loss and have reouested the change in ~I

<br />fares as soon as possible, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and it is declared to i~
<br />be necessary for the immddiate nreservatiatn of the peace, healthsnd safety of the citizens
