EUGENE CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY

c

Workshop: Supply of Commercial and Industrial Land in Lane County

Meeting Date: July 12, 2006
Department: Planning and Development
www.eugene-or.gov

Agenda Item Number: 1
Staff Contact: Kurt Yeiter, Principal Planner
Contact Telephone Number: 682-8379

ISSUE STATEMENT
The purpose of this workshop is to present a newly created database for commercial and industrial lands
in Lane County. No decisions are requested at this time. The format is a 'workshop,' which means that
no decisions are expected from any of the elected officials.

BACKGROUND
In Fall 2005, Eugene, Springfield, Lane County, and the Lane Metro Partnership co-sponsored the
creation of a comprehensive database of commercial and industrial designated lands. The project was
managed by Lane County. ECONorthwest, an economic analysis firm, was hired to prepare the product.
At the workshop, the consultants will present the new database, which will be available for use by all the
local jurisdictions for custom studies. The City entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the
project partners on this; the agreement is attached as Exhibit A.

Note: The final report was not available in time for distribution with this packet. It is expected that it
will be delivered to the council prior to the workshop.

RELATED CITY POLICIES
City policies are not applicable at this time.

COUNCIL OPTIONS
No action is requested. Based on the discussion, the council may want to request another work session,
at which time additional questions can be answered.

CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION
The City Manager recommends the council receive the report from Lane County and the consultants.

SUGGESTED MOTION
No motion is suggested.

LICMOl2006 Council AgendaslM0607121S060712 1. doc
