<br />RESOLUTION NO. LJ- S if i. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION CONCURRING WITH THE PROPOSAL FOR THE <br />FORMATION OF THE MCKENZIEIMOHA WK SHERIFF'S LAW <br />ENFORCEMENT DISTRICT. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that: <br /> <br />A. The Lane County Sheriff has proposed the formation of the McKenzie/Mohawk <br />Sheriff s Law Enforcement District, a county service district authorized under ORS <br />451.010(1)(n), to provide law enforcement services. <br /> <br />B. The boundary of the proposed McKenzie/Mohawk Sheriffs Law Enforcement <br />District will generally conform to the existing boundaries of the Mohawk Valley Rural Fire <br />Protection District, the McKenzie Rural Fire Protection District, the Blue River Water District <br />and the Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Protection District. <br /> <br />C. The proposed McKenzie/Mohawk Sheriffs Law Enforcement District includes <br />property located north and east of the Springfield Urban Growth Boundary but inside the <br />Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Area General Plan (MetroPlan) Jurisdictional Boundary. <br /> <br />D. Growth Management and the Urban Service Area Policy #14 of the Metro Plan <br />addresses the creation of new service districts within the jurisdictional boundaries of the <br />Metropolitan Plan. The only criteria of Policy # 14 that is applicable to the formation of the <br />proposed McKenzie/Mohawk Sheriff s Law Enforcement District is that criteria which requires <br />that the three metropolitan area general purpose governments concur with a proposal to form a <br />service district within the jurisdictional boundary of the Metropolitan Plan. <br /> <br />E. The Lane County Sheriff has requested that the Eugene City Council concur with <br />the proposal to initiate the formation of the McKenzie/Mohawk Sheriff s Law Enforcement <br />District. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, a <br />Municipal Corporation of the State of Oregon, as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council concurs with the proposal to initiate the formation of a <br />McKenzie/Mohawk Sheriff s Law Enforcement District and which will include property within <br />the jurisdictional boundary of the Metropolitan Plan but outside the Springfield Urban Growth <br />Boundary . <br /> <br />Resolution - 1 <br />
