<br />o <br /> <br />Planting Strip and Street Tree <br /> <br />Design Standards <br /> <br />1) Planting strips at least 6 feet wide, measured <br />from face of curb to near edge of sidewalk, are <br />required on both sides of arterial and collector <br />streets . <br /> <br />2) Planting strips shall be used for the placement <br />of street trees, signs, street furniture, and, to a <br />limited degree, utilities. <br /> <br />3) Street trees shall be planted within the plant- <br />ing strip on arterial and collector streets. The <br />planting of street trees is governed by standards <br />and specifications in Public Works Administra- <br />tive Rule R-7.280 which: <br /> <br />a) establishes policies and requirements for <br />planting and establishment of street trees; <br /> <br />b) establishes application procedures; <br /> <br />c) establishes Street Tree Plan requirements; <br /> <br />d) establishes standards and procedures to be <br />utilized in development of a Street Tree Plan, <br />including standards for tree selection; tree <br />quality; tree size; tree condition; planting <br />location; planting procedures; establishment <br />requirements; and tree trimming, pruning and <br />removal; and <br /> <br />e) identifies trees that are permitted to be <br />planted within the street right-of-way. <br /> <br />19 <br />
