<br />EUGENE HUMAN RIGHTS PROGRAM <br />FY 2006 REPORT <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />There are 3 FTE staff in the City Manager's Office dedicated to <br />assisting the commission and its standing committees, and to <br />do additional human rights work as assigned. The staff con- <br />sists of Program Manager Greg Rikhoff and Program Special- <br />ists Francisca Leyva-Johnson and Karen Hyatt. <br /> <br />The Eugene Human Rights Commission (HRC) and four stand- <br />ing committees of the commission were established by Ordi- <br />nance 19732 in 1990. The Ordinance was updated in 2002. <br /> <br />The HRC coordinates program efforts and has oversight re- <br />sponsibility for the standing committees of the commission <br /> <br />In addition, the Human Rights Program could not do its work <br />without the invaluable contribution of volunteers and interns. <br />Of particular note, James Dean serves as a full-time office VOl- <br />unteer and coordinator. <br /> <br />The HRC has 15 members, 14 appointed by the City Counci <br />and one member of the City Council. The four standing com- <br />mittees are the Agenda Committee, Education and Outreach <br />Committee, Accessibility Committee, and Advocate Response <br />Team. <br /> <br />The Human Rights Commission last reported to the City Coun- <br />cil in September 2005. This report highlights the work of the <br />commission from July 2005 through June 2006 and the goals <br />and work plan of the commission for fiscal years 2007 and <br />2008. <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />FY 2007/2008 Work Plan <br /> <br />The Agenda Committee is composed of the commission's <br />elected officers. The other committees are comprised of a <br />mixture of commissioners and community members. Each <br />commissioner is a member of at least one standing committee, <br />is an advocate with the Human Rights Support System, and/or <br />serves as the commission's representative to another commu- <br />nity group <br /> <br />FY 2006 Annual Report and <br /> <br />Eugene Human Rights Commission <br />
