For most crossings, an eight-foot high underpass with
two feet of overhead structure is necessary. At ten feet of
depth, about 20 steps or a 145-foot long ramp for wheel-
chair access is necessary at each end. The road may be
raised slightly to reduce ramp and stair length. Trench
drains are necessary at the end of each ramp to collect
runoff.

Grade entrances to underpasses at a maximum of 8%.
