ATTACHMENT F <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> Eugene City Council <br /> Goal-Setting Session <br /> Valley River Inn, Rogue Room <br /> <br /> February 25-26, 2005 <br /> 10:30 a.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: George Poling, Jennifer Solomon, Betty Taylor, David Kelly, Gary Pap6, <br /> Bonny Bettman, Andrea Ortiz, Chris Pryor. <br /> <br />Mayor Kitty Piercy called the goal-setting session of the Eugene City Council to order. Julia Novak of <br />Management Partners, Incorporated, facilitated the session. <br /> <br />Retreat Goals · To improve the effectiveness of the governing body <br /> · To build a working relationship between members of the governing body and the City's executive <br /> staff <br /> · To identify important goals and strategies for the City of Eugene to accomplish in the ensuing two <br /> years <br /> <br />Vision and Goals Statements <br /> <br />Vision and Goals <br /> <br />The Council considered the existing Vision Statement and Council Goals and reflected on how they <br />could/should be changed. The council and executive staff also assessed what the City is doing well with <br />regard to each goal and what could be better. <br /> <br />Existing Vision Statement <br /> <br />Eugene is a regional center for education, culture and commerce, and a comfortable attractive and <br />affordable place to live and work. We value the variety of our safe, livable neighborhoods and the beauty <br />of our landscapes. We respect the perspectives and lifestyles of our active and diverse citizenry. We <br />strive to provide sound, open government and to deliver effective, efficient services. <br /> <br />Reflections on Vision Statement <br /> <br /> · Recreation is not mentioned <br /> · Economic development is not mentioned <br /> · No sense of future - should be more forward-looking <br /> · Leading with "regional center" - should be more about neighborhoods <br /> · "Citizenry" is not inclusive enough <br /> <br />MINUTES--Eugene City Council February 25-26, 2005 Page 1 <br /> Goals Setting Session <br /> <br /> <br />
