The Lane Workforce Partnership has recruited John Lively with Best Software fill the vacancy. Mr. Lively is Director, ACT! For the company. Enclosed is a letter from the Eugene Chamber of Commerce approving the nomination of Mr. Lively. Mr. Lively replaces Steve Badenoch who resigned from the board because he took a job in Portland. The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 requires that local workforce investment boards, i.e., the Lane Workforce Partnership board of directors, be comprised of a majority from business. Business representation must be owners of businesses, chief executives, or operating officers of business or employers with optimum policymaking or hiring authority; represent businesses with employment opportunities that reflect the employment opportunities of the local area and; are appointed from among individuals nominated by local business organizations, i.e., the Eugene Chamber, and business trade associations. We are requesting the Eugene City Council appoint Mr. Lively to serve on the Lane Workforce Partnership board of directors from April 1, 2005 through December 31, 2007.
